Treating anxiety disorders could have a huge public impact, according to Ronald Kessler, PhD, of Harvard Medical School. In the keynote address of the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, Kessler indicated that treating anxiety early on would be helpful since such patients have high rates of comorbid illness. No studies have been done of the effectiveness of treating such studies, whether it would prevent the comorbid psychiatric illness down the road in these patients.
