Opensecrets.org reports that overall contributions by Pharma to Congress has shifted from 67% Republicans and 31% Democrats in 2006 to 51% Republicans and 48% Democrats in 2008. In absolute numbers, total donations increased to Democrats (from $6,065,172 to $10,470,136) and decreased for Republicans (from $13,040,480 to $11,131,628).
The top three recipients of Pharma contributions are Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain, in that order. Barack Obama has received more that twice as much ($1,147,154) in contributions as has John McCain ($538,881). See the list here.
Until 2006, Republicans had the majority in Congress. It is likely that the shift in monies has to do with Democrats now having the majority.
