Doctors Across New York

In order to entice doctors to rural and underserved areas of New York, Governor Eliot Spitzer has proposed the "Doctors Across New York" program. (See editorial in NYT.) The idea is to entice doctors to work in underserved areas by promising loan reimbursements of up to $150,000 in exchange for a five year commitment. In addition, he is also calling for increased Medicare reimbursements to doctors and clinics in such areas.
