Turning off the television is one way to keep kids healthy. We all know this, right? The assumption is that turning off the television means that kids will then be more active. This may or may not be true. However, recent research does reveal that kids that watch more television, eat more. This is possibly related to snacking while watching television. Another possibility is that advertisements show less healthy food options which kids then eat later.
At the State University of New York, researchers have been testing a device which helps parents turn off the television. The article appeared in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine.
Whatever the reason, turn off the television!
